What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a popular complementary therapy that uses specific reflex points on the feet to bring balance to the whole body. This non-invasive treatment can effectively promote deep relaxation, improve sleep and mood, relieve tension, and enhance a sense of well-being. Reflexology operates on the principle that specific points on the feet, hands, and ears correspond to different organs and systems in the body. By applying pressure to these reflex points, reflexologists aim to stimulate the body's natural healing processes, enhance relaxation, and improve overall health. Suitable for everyone and all ages, reflexology helps leave you feeling rebalanced. Reducing stress in people's lives is crucial for optimizing health and building resilience.
Exploring the reflexes
Reflexology foot and hand maps are diagrams illustrating various reflex points that correspond to different organs, glands, and systems of the body, guiding reflexologists in their practice.

Why Reflexology?
Well-trained reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose, or prescribe. Reflexology is a highly individualised treatment tailored to you as a whole person, considering both physical and non-physical factors that may impact your well-being. Many people find it very effective and the best way to determine if it works for you is to give it a try!
Stress & Anxiety
Managing stress is essential for maintaining overall health and well-being. Prolonged stress can contribute to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Reflexology can help calm the nervous system, release tension, alleviate stress, and reduce anxiety by promoting relaxation and enhancing overall wellness.
Improved sleep
Reflexology results in better quality sleep and regularly receiving foot reflexology can improve the sleep quality of adults with sleep disturbances (e.g. a recent meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials by Huang et al (2020).
Improved mood

What to expect
Prior to your treatment:

Before your first treatment, you'll need to complete and sign a consultation and consent form. This allows me to understand your health, diet, lifestyle, medications, recent surgeries or illnesses, and your reasons for trying reflexology. The booking form link will be sent to you after booking to be completed online, or it can be filled out in person. This information will be kept confidential.
Reflexology is easy to receive; you only need to remove your socks and shoes. Wearing comfortable, loose clothing can help you feel relaxed, and I may need to move the bottom of your trousers to avoid getting cream on them. For treatments requiring lymphatic massage work, trousers will need to be rolled up to your knees.

Your First Treatment:
During your first visit, we'll briefly discuss your consultation form before you are reclined in the chair. The session will start with gentle relaxation techniques followed by applying pressure to specific reflex points. You can choose how you want to relax best during the session; many people like to close their eyes but some people like to chat. I will apply cream or balm to your feet and work on either one foot at a time or both feet together. The pressure should be firm but not painful. If you feel any tenderness, it can be helpful for you to let me know, as this can indicate an imbalance in the particular reflex being worked.
In this initial 'investigatory sequence', all the reflex points and systems of the body are covered, and I will make notes to help create your bespoke treatment plan for future sessions. All recorded information will be kept confidential and in accordance with the latest GDPR regulations. A typical treatment session lasts around 50 minutes out of the 1-hour appointment.
